Life Is Good…No Matter What

May 25, 2012 by Morris Hall, PLLC 2 Comments

This weekend I had the great privilege to participate in the fulfilling of a Wish for the Arizona chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  This was a new experience for me.  Have you ever wondered what your wish would be?  What would it be if you were a young boy that made it through a difficult struggle?

Our Wish Kid’s name was Daniel and his wish was simply to go to the mall for a shopping spree.  What a day we had!  From building and riding bikes in Dick’s Sporting Goods to playing on Ipads at the Apple Store, it was quite a day.  Daniel even had the opportunity to become an artist – a sandwich artist that is.  He wanted to go to Subway for lunch, there he was made an honorary Sandwich Artist.  In fact, he even made my sandwich, and it was quite good.

Daniel got some new clothes from Tilly’s and was able to let his imagination run wild, building all sorts of things at the Lego Store with his younger brother and cousin.  By the end of the day we had a limo full of items for Daniel, and memories to last him and his family a lifetime.  It was a special experience for all that were privileged to be involved.

While the news seems to continually tell us about everything that’s wrong in the world, I can tell you from experiences such as this that there is a lot of good too.  I met an 11-year old boy that was willing to give his sick brother a bone marrow transplant – a procedure which can be very painful and often involves a long recovery.  There were many volunteers willing to give their day off to help bring a smile to a family in need.  There were stores that were more focused on making their communities a better place then on increasing their sales numbers.

This event was a small thing, nothing that anyone else would know about.  However, this was a day that I will never forget and which has positively affected my outlook on life.  So, remember the world can be a pretty great place, even when things are difficult.  When life gets you down, take a moment to help those around you – it might just give you the extra boost you need!

As a volunteer for Make-A-Wish it was my privilege and my honor to work with such great people in granting Daniel’s wish.
