Howard’s mom on The Big Bang Theory passed away. What a sad episode!
Are you a fan of the show? If you are, you know that Howard’s mom passed away on The Big Bang Theory.
Carol Ann Susi passed away this month of cancer at the age of 62. She’s better known as the voice of Mrs. Wolowitz, the mother of Howard Wolowitz in the “Big Bang Theory”. Her appearance was a longtime running mystery since the first season. Viewers only got a glimpse of her in pictures hanging on the wall of Howard’s home.
Carol Ann was no stranger to sitcoms. Her raw talent and comic timing was evident on every guest appearance she ever made. I remember watching her on Seinfeld as George’s girlfriend. They were sitting in George’s car and George tried to outsmart her and her mom. See George really did not want to date her but his unemployment would run out unless he agreed to go on a date with the Carol Ann Susi’s character. I have to say, for me, that is one of the most memorable Seinfeld scenes. She stole the scene from Jason Alexander. She also appeared on screen in many other shows, like “Cheers,” “Mad About You,” and “Just Shoot Me.” Of course, her most notable role was as Howard’s mom. Even as I write this blog, I still hear her voice screaming, “Howard!”
Her death brings so many questions for me. How are the BBT writings going to handle her death? Is her character going to die? Her voice and talent is not easy to replicate, so I can only assume her character too will pass away.
I think this would be a great opportunity for the writers to write about what happens when one dies. There definitely should be a scene with Howard and Bernadette going through his mom’s estate planning documents. The writers really could dedicate one or even two shows, like in the Nanny when Mr. Sheffield’s father passed away. Whatever they do, I am sure it will be funny and highlight Carol Ann Susie’s talents. I can only dream it highlights the importance of an estate plan.
