Morris Hall believes in the power of a wish and is a proud supporter of Make-A-Wish Arizona.
Gunnar is a 5-year-old boy with a big personality. He’s energetic and charismatic, and he loves being with his family.
Challenged early in life with a critical illness, leukemia, Gunnar had to undergo chemotherapy and was separated from his family, making treatments tough on him.
“COVID protocols kept us apart during Gunnar’s treatments. We were never allowed to do anything together as a family,” said Jennifer, Gunnar’s mother.
During his hospital stays, Gunnar found moments of happiness by building LEGO sets. Jennifer saw how much he loved putting them together and how it helped take his mind off his illness.
Jennifer shares, “It started as something to occupy our time when he took intensive medication, but then Gunnar got really good at it. He’s completed almost 80 LEGO sets!”
When Gunnar became eligible for a wish from Make-A-Wish Arizona, he knew exactly what to wish for – to visit LEGOLAND with his whole family!
On Gunnar’s wish trip to LEGOLAND, he rode every ride with his family, indulged in all kinds of snacks, and bought new LEGO sets to take home as souvenirs. A surprise tour of the LEGO Master Build room made Gunnar feel extra special, “They organize their LEGO like me. I want a Master Build room to hold all my sets!” said Gunnar.
The trip was more than just a fun experience for Gunnar and his family. “The wish brought us closer as a family. The memories we created together will last a lifetime,” said Jennifer.
Recently, Gunnar had his five-month checkup and is reported cancer free. “We’re pretty excited to finish his last medication in a few weeks. It’s been a long road and we are happy this wish helped see us through a tough chapter in our life,” said Jennifer.
